The head of the Southern Teachers Union in Aden acted as if he were the director of the Education Office, and signed an agreement with the Bank of Aden to transfer teachers’ salaries to him (the document is attached to this publication).
The signing was on August 21, 2023.
When the Director of the Education Office in Aden, Dr. Nawal Jawad, rejected this measure and signed with the Al-Qutaybi Bank, the head of the Teachers Union in Aden issued a statement calling for a strike (six days after his illegal signing with the Bank of Aden).
Reviewing the strike statement issued by the union president on August 27, there are no demands for rights or increased salaries or bonuses, only a demand to refuse to transfer salaries to banks.
Poor students were deprived of education in public schools, because the bank chosen by the union president was not approved by the Education Office, and it is known here that commercial banks paid commissions to all utility specialists who facilitated the transfer of salaries to them.
Whoever will doubt that the paper is forged, I will tell him that the head of the union admitted the validity of the memorandum before the last meeting of union heads in the directorates. There are witnesses who confirm his confession, and there is other material evidence that cannot be denied, when the teachers said to him, “How can you make us go on strike in protest?” On transferring salaries to banks, and you basically signed with the Bank of Aden six days before the strike, he replied: This bank will treat you in easy installments in the event of illness, and it has privileges for the benefit of the teacher!!.
Advocate for help: Is it correct for unions to sign agreements with commercial banks to transfer salaries to them?
Did you not deceive us and the citizens that you refuse to transfer salaries to banks, when the dispute is who will receive the commission for choosing the bank?.
What is the fault of poor students who do not have tuition fees in private schools? What is their fault when they are deprived of education because of a dispute in the deal to choose the bank to which the salaries will be transferred?.
