Journalist Muhammad Al-Hanashi published documents showing the monopoly of Hayel Saeed Anam’s companies on the sugar import market, and the obstruction of the port of Aden in favor of the port of Hodeidah, which is under the control of the Houthi group.
Reports stated that Hayel Saeed Anam's companies forced the Ministry of Industry to set new specifications for the entry of sugar into Yemen, applying only to their products, which sparked dissatisfaction with merchants.
According to Al-Hanashi: These merchants filed a grievance with the Command Council, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Industry and Trade, stressing that the specifications they proposed for other types of sugar were of high quality, but the power of Hayel Saeed Anam’s companies exceeded the authority of the government.
He pointed out that Hayel Saeed Anam’s companies deliberately disrupted movement in the port of Aden in favor of the port of Hodeidah, which led to the cessation of imports through the port of Aden and its complete transfer to the port of Iron. These companies pay taxes in the Houthi-controlled areas, without paying any amounts in the liberated areas. .
Journalist Al-Hanashi published documents confirming the restriction of imports for the benefit of Hayel Saeed Anam’s companies and the rejection of other traders, which raises questions about who can put an end to this situation.
