A soldier, with the southern forces, was injured this evening, Sunday, in an attack carried out by armed elements believed to belong to Al-Qaeda, in Wadi Omran, Mudiyah District, Abyan Governorate. This is considered the second attack within hours.
A local source reported that armed elements attacked a site of the forces of the 2nd Support and Support Brigade in the Al-Baqira area, in Wadi Omran, which led to the injury of soldier Saleh Ahmed Al-Junaidi. The brigade clashed with the armed elements and forced them to retreat.
Earlier today, an explosive device exploded in a military vehicle of the 3rd Brigade's support and support forces on the main road in the Qarn Amaram area, wounding five soldiers, including the commander of the 3rd Battalion of Major General Muhammad Mu'jam.
For more than two years, the southern forces have been subjected to armed attacks by elements believed to belong to Al-Qaeda, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries among the ranks of those forces.
