8,860 African immigrants arrive in Yemen

According to international migration (IOM) it monitored 8,860 immigrants from the Horn of Africa who entered Yemen, in March 2025.
Immigration indicated that the number of migrants arriving last month is the minimum rate since the beginning of the year, as it represents a decrease of 31% from February, which witnessed the arrival of 12,906 migrants, and 42% from January, which recorded 15,400 immigrants.
Al -Dhouh Matrippieh (DTM) of the Organization of Immigration indicated that 74% of immigrants arriving to Yemen last March, and with 6,545 immigrants who left from Djibouti and arrived at a district of a door on the western coast of Taiz Governorate, while 2,315 immigrants and 26% came from Barry in Somalia to the coast of Bir Ali in Shabwa Governorate, southeast Country.
She added that the coast of Lahj Governorate, and for the twentieth month in a row, did not record the arrival of any immigrant, “and this is likely to be due to the measures taken by the government to combat smuggling, and continuing since August 2023.”
The report indicated that 8,420 immigrants, and 95% of the total migrants arrived to Yemen during the past month are Ethiopians, while the other 440; With the remaining 5% of Somalis, men represented 58% of the general total of expatriates, compared to 23% of women, and 19% of children of both sexes.
International immigration revealed that 8,814 immigrants, and 99% of the total expatriates, their intended destination, while only 46 immigrants (1%) intend to stability in Yemen.
