The Saudi Al-Nasr team began its journey in the Saudi Professional League, with a draw against its counterpart, Al-Raed, with a score of (1-1) in the match that brought them together on Thursday evening in the first round of the tournament.
With this result, Al-Nasr and Al-Raed scored a point each at the beginning of their journey in the tournament, in the fourth and fifth places, while Al-Taawoun topped the ranking table.
Al-Nasr scored first through its captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, in the 34th minute, and equalized by Major Mohamed Fawzier in the 49th minute from a penalty kick.
The match began with successive short passes between Al-Nasr players in the middle of the field, without any threat to the opponent’s goal.
The 11th minute witnessed an opportunity for the Portuguese star Ronaldo, after he received a cross from the Brazilian Talisca into the penalty area, but it witnessed an offside on the Don as a result of the wrong positioning behind the opponent’s defences.
Al-Raed team scored a goal in the 17th minute through Amir Saeed, from a counter-attack, but the match referee decided to cancel it due to the Al-Raed player being offside.
Sultan Al-Ghannam tried to threaten Al-Raed’s goal in the 20th minute, with a strong shot from outside the penalty area, but it was blocked by Al-Raed’s goalkeeper.
Al-Raed also responded with a shot in the 22nd minute, via Salj Al-Akri, from inside the penalty area, and Al-Nasr goalkeeper Pinto successfully blocked it.
Ronaldo opened the match, scoring his first goal in the tournament in the 34th minute, with a powerful shot with his head, which came after a cross from his Senegalese teammate, Sadio Mane.
With this goal, Ronaldo reached goal number 50 in his 48th match with Al-Nasr in the Saudi Professional League.
Al-Raed almost threatened Al-Nasr’s goal in the 37th minute, after goalkeeper Pinto intervened and blocked a dangerous ball before Amir Saeed caught it.
In the 47th minute, the match referee decided to give Laporte, the Al-Nasr player, a red card, before retracting his decision after returning to the VAR technique and giving the player a yellow card, with a penalty kick awarded to Al-Raed.
Al-Raed team equalized against Al-Nasr in the 49th minute, through Mohamed Fawzier, who scored from a penalty kick to the left of Pinto into the net.
Sadio Mane almost scored the goal to put Al-Nassr ahead again in the 51st minute, after receiving a cross from Ronaldo inside the penalty area, which the Senegalese player shot with a strong header, but the goalkeeper successfully blocked it.
Al-Nasr continued to threaten Al-Raed’s goal, in the 59th minute, through a powerful shot from the Brazilian player Talisca, from a free kick, but Al-Raed’s goalkeeper successfully blocked it.
Talisca also almost scored a goal for his team in the 61st minute, after he received a cross ball inside the penalty area from Telles, which came on top of Talisca, who shot a ball that hit the right post.
Ronaldo scored the second goal for Al-Nasr in the 76th minute, before the referee decided to return to the VAR technique and it was canceled due to offside.
The 88th minute witnessed a dangerous opportunity for Al-Nasr, which came after a cross from Ronaldo inside the penalty area. Laporte received it and shot it towards the goal, but the goalkeeper blocked it brilliantly.
