Captain Abdul-Sattar Al-Hamdani, President of the Yemeni Basketball Federation, expected that the Super Championship, which begins the day after tomorrow afternoon, Friday, at the Bambed Hall in the city of Seiyun, with the participation of the clubs of Hadhramaut People, Al-Tilal Aden, Al-Wahda, and Al-Ahly Sana’a, will witness a strong competition between the four clubs to win the title and obtain the card to represent our country in the tournament. Al-Hamdani explained that the Super Cup is the tournament that never sets on the activities of the General Federation, and the season does not start except through the Super Cup, and it is considered the beginning of the season and its true start.

Al-Hamdani said: We are not forced to create a specific form and install it because development is a year of life, and what happened in the last Super Cup should be talked about by everyone in a positive way, especially since it witnessed great success with the participation of the clubs of Al-Minaa Aden, Al-Ahly and Al-Wahda in Sanaa, and the Hadhramaut people, and it is considered a successful experience before the start of the season.

He added: In our country, there is always a process of delaying the start of the sports season for reasons known to everyone, so the Federation had no choice but to work and keep pace with the international agenda and its timing, and took the Super Championship as a way out.

He continued his speech by saying: We had a successful experience with the last Super Championship and the participation of Al-Minaa Club in the Arab Championship due to time constraints, and as soon as the team returned, the classification league began, and God willing, the same thing will be repeated after the champion of this Super Championship returns from external participation. The general league will begin in the form and manner. Which everyone agrees to. 

Al-Hamdani confirmed that the General Federation does not suffer from any financial problem in holding any tournament. It suffers from another dilemma, which is the problem of the form and method of holding the league. He pointed out that everyone was hopeful when the classification league ended and the Federation had three degrees, and the General Federation had to work In order to hold the league on the specified date, but the circumstances were the opposite of what Al-Ittihad hoped, and what no one expected happened, so the Super Championship became the way out.

With regard to the first national team, whose technical and training staff was announced by the Federation to participate in the upcoming Arab Championship, the President of the General Federation noted that the technical staff will be present in the tournament so that it can choose the appropriate names from the clubs participating in the Super Cup and those not participating to represent the team in the tournament that will be held in Next November in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, he explained that the federation will hold a meeting with the national team’s coach and his assistant to talk about the details, the training camp that precedes the start of the tournament, and some arrangements that will make the participation successful.

At the end of his speech, Al-Hamdani thanked the presidents of the four clubs participating in the Super Championship and the members of the clubs’ boards of directors who were the main reason for the success of this tournament in terms of supporting the important participation, which is considered the beginning of the work of the new season and confirms that they are keeping the covenant and are still with Al-Ittihad to preserve the game. And its cohesion and continuity, this indicates their keenness to make the tournament and the fun competitions a complete success. Al-Hamdani also thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Nayef Al-Bakri, and the Governor of Hadhramout Governorate, Mr. Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madi, for their sponsorship of the tournament, as well as the Undersecretary of Hadhramout Governorate, Mr. Amer Al-Amiri, and the Director General of the Youth and Sports Office in Hadhramout, Al-Wadi and the Desert, Dr. Majdi bin Talib for their cooperation in holding the tournament and supervising all its preparations, in addition to the leaders of Hadhramaut Bank and Sayun Readymix Company, supporters of the tournament.
