The European Football Association (UEFA) decided to honor Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Al-Nassr Saudi Arabia, by giving him a unique award.
The European Football Association awarded Ronaldo the “Historic Top Scorer” award to Ronaldo, on the sidelines of the draw for the new edition of the Champions League (2024-2025), which was held today, Thursday, in Monaco.
Ronaldo won the award for being the all-time top scorer in the Champions League, in which he scored 140 goals in 183 matches.
Ronaldo (39 years old) scored 140 goals over more than 18 years, during which he participated in the Champions League with 4 teams: Sporting Lisbon of Portugal, Manchester United of England, Real Madrid of Spain, and Juventus of Italy.
Cristiano tops the list of all-time top scorers in the Champions League, ahead of his runner-up, Argentine Lionel Messi, by 11 goals, and by 46 goals over Polish Robert Lewandowski, who is in third place.
The Portuguese player was the top scorer in the European Championship in 7 different seasons, a number that no other player has reached in the history of the tournament. He also holds the record for the number of goals in a single season, with 17 goals in the 2013-2014 edition.

Cristiano won the Double-Eared Cup once with Manchester United and 4 times with Real Madrid, and he is also the only player to score in 3 different finals (2008, 2014 and 2017).
Ronaldo also holds the record for the longest scoring streak, as he scored in 11 consecutive matches, from June 2017 until April 2018, and his scoring record includes 8 hat-tricks.
Cristiano has won the Ballon d'Or 5 times and the UEFA Best Player 3 times. He is the all-time top scorer in all European club competitions (145 goals in 197 matches) and the highest-scoring player in the history of men's international football (130 goals in 212 matches).< /p>
