The Yemeni junior team (under 17 years old) arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to participate in the eleventh edition of the West Asian Championship, which begins next Monday and continues until next September 11.
The junior team will compete in the tournament held at the Prince Mohammed Stadium in Zarqa and the Polo Stadium in Oman, to defend its title after winning the tournament cup in its tenth edition, which was held last year in the Omani city of Salalah.
The team’s roster includes (23) players, led by coach Samer Fadl, who led the team to last year’s championship.
The junior national team will play its opening match next Monday against the Oman national team in the second group, which includes the Saudi national team.
The junior team played two preparatory matches in the city of Lawdar, Abyan Governorate, and in the city of Mukalla, Hadramaut Governorate, and played six trial matches with Hadhramout clubs, winning five of them and drawing one.
