Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced that his country will organize the World Cup for Electronic Games starting next year.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman said, “The Electronic Sports World Cup is the next natural step in #Saudi Arabia’s journey to become the first global center for gaming and electronic sports.”

The first edition of the tournament is expected to be launched next summer, replacing the eight-week “Gamers 8” festival of e-sports tournaments, whose total prize pool this year reached $45 million.
