Under the auspices of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, the Council’s Youth and Sports Department, in partnership with the Scouts and Guides Association, and in cooperation with the Education Department of the Southern Transitional Council, organized a workshop entitled “Enhancing the role of the Scout Movement in building the capabilities of young men and women for community development.” It was held in the hall of the Elephant Resort in the capital, Aden.
During the opening of the workshop, the Acting Head of the Youth and Sports Department in the Council, Mr. Ayoub Amer, conveyed the greetings of the Head of the Department, Mr. Al-Kuraihi Kanaan, stressing in his speech the importance of the Scouting movement in enhancing the capabilities of young people and directing them towards active participation in community development.
Commander Mishaal Al-Daari, Commissioner General of the Scouts and Guides Association and member of the Scout Committee for the Arab Region, also spoke about the history of Scouting and its pivotal role in instilling positive values and the spirit of cooperation among young people.
The list of speakers also included A. Iman Musa, Head of the Education Department in the General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council, and A. Saad Al-Omari, Acting Undersecretary of the Training and Rehabilitation Sector in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in addition to A. Kutbi Omar Kutbi, Commissioner of the Aden Scouts.
The workshop dealt with scouting education and its role in the comprehensive development of youth and society, and the most prominent challenges and difficulties facing scouts and guides in the nation.
The workshop came up with a number of proposed solutions to enhance the role of the Scouting movement in building the capabilities of young men and women for community development, in addition to recommendations and work mechanisms to enhance the role of Scouting.
A group of elite members of the Scouting movement at the national level, and representatives from the relevant authorities specialized in scouting work at the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education, participated in the workshop.
This event aims to enhance cooperation and coordination between various parties to support the Scouting movement and enable young people to play their active role in building a better future for society.
