Al-Nasr Saudi Club dismissed its Portuguese coach, Luis Castro, after his faltering start to this season, according to what he announced on his social media accounts on Tuesday.
The capital team, which includes veteran Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, wrote in its ranks, “Al-Nasr Club Company has officially decided to terminate the contractual relationship with the first team coach, Mr. Luis Castro, appreciating all the efforts he made with Al-Nasr and wishing him success.”
Al-Nasr tied twice in three matches in the local league and settled for a draw point from the Iraqi Al-Shorta Stadium (1-1) on Monday in its first match in the AFC Elite Champions League. He achieved two wins in six matches in various competitions.
Al-Nasr had signed Castro (63 years old) in July 2023, coming from the Brazilian club Botafogo, and led them to the Arab Club Cup title at the expense of their local rival, Al-Hilal, 2-1.
The former right-back previously supervised, in particular, the training of his compatriot Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, and Al-Duhail of Qatar.
