Barcelona defeated its host Villarreal, 5-1, this evening, Sunday, in the sixth round of the Spanish League, at La Ceramica Stadium.
Barca's quintet was scored by Lewandowski (two goals), Rafinha (two goals), and Pablo Toure in the 20th, 35th, 58th, 75th and 83rd minutes.
Ayoze Perez scored Villarreal's goal in the 38th minute.
With this victory, Barcelona raised its score to 18 points at the top of the La Liga table, while Villarreal remained fourth with 11 points.
The match began, under pressure from the visitors. From a free kick executed by Barcelona player Rafinha, on the edge of the penalty area, the Brazilian shot a powerful ball that passed over the horizontal crossbar in the second minute.
Rafinha returned with a header shot from inside the area, but it easily reached the arms of Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Conde in the fourth minute.
The first response from the hosts came with a header from Pepe that passed over Ter Stegen's goal in the fifth minute.
Jeremy Pino opened the scoring for Villarreal in the seventh minute, after he was alone with goalkeeper Ter Stegen, but the referee canceled the goal due to offside.
Pepe shot a ball inside the area, but Ter Stegen blocked it with his right foot in the 13th minute.
Lewandowski opened the scoring for Barcelona in the 20th minute, as he received a through pass deep into the penalty area from Pablo Torre, and with one touch, he shot below the left of goalkeeper Kounde.
Lewandowski added the second goal in the 35th minute, as the attack began with a cross from the right side via Lamin Yamal, and it reached Eric Garcia, who shot with a header, but it was dispersed by the goalkeeper, reaching Lewandowski, who fired a double kick into the net.
Ayoze Perez quickly reduced the gap for Villarreal with the first goal in the 37th minute, as he received Pepe's cross inside Barcelona's penalty area, and shot goalkeeper Ter Stegen to the far right.
Ter Stegen suffered a severe knee injury, after rising to catch the ball, where he fell incorrectly on his knee, and came out on a stretcher with his hands on his face, amid a state of extreme anxiety.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick decided to introduce young goalkeeper Iñaki Peña instead of Ter Stegen in the 46th minute.
At the beginning of the second half, Pepe scored the equalizer for Villarreal in the 50th minute, but the match referee ruled it out for offside.
Pepe almost scored the second goal, with a missile shot inside the area, but goalkeeper Peña excelled and turned it into the corner in the 51st minute.
Luck deprived Villarreal of the second goal. From a corner kick, the ball reached Jeremi Beno and he headed it, but the shot hit the crossbar.
Pablo Torre succeeded in scoring Barcelona's third goal in the 56th minute, as he received a pass from Pedri and shot a missile with his left foot, far right of goalkeeper Diego Conde.
The referee of the match awarded a penalty kick for Barcelona, after a strong challenge by Eric Bailly on Yamal inside the area, and Lewandowski went to execute, but he shot at the right post, wasting the opportunity to score his personal hat-trick in the 66th minute.
Barry scored Villarreal's second goal in the 69th minute from a header, but the match referee ruled it out for offside.
Rafinha added the fourth goal for Barcelona, as he received a pass from Pau Victor inside the area, and shot a ball that hit one of Villarreal's defenders, and the ball passed below goalkeeper Kounde's right.
Rafinha returned to add Barcelona's fifth goal in the 83rd minute, as he received Yamal's cross and shot a ball that hit the ground before rising above goalkeeper Kounde and into the net.
