Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola announced the fate of Spanish midfielder Rodri this season, after the injury he recently suffered.
The coach of the defending Premier League champions confirmed, today, Friday, that Rodri will miss the rest of the season after suffering a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee.
Guardiola said that Rodri underwent surgery earlier today to treat this injury.
The Spanish international suffered an injury to his right knee during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League last Sunday.
Guardiola added: “When you suffer an injury to the cruciate ligament, the recovery period takes 9 months, and then you suffer from muscle injuries the following season.”
He continued: “We will have to play many matches over the course of months without an important player for us, but we have great players, and we will find a solution to compensate for him.”
In another context, Guardiola also announced that his Belgian player, Kevin De Bruyne, will continue to be absent from the field for several days due to injury.
The City coach confirmed De Bruyne's absence from the upcoming match against Newcastle United, adding, "I do not know when he will return, but perhaps before or after the international break...we will see."
