The Yemeni General Basketball Federation announced today the start date of the year’s league for first-class teams 2024/2025 (men’s category).
The General Federation has set next December 5th as the date for the start of the league competitions in a home-and-away system with the participation of all first-class teams that were approved through the last classification league, whose final ranking was as follows:

The Federation issued the regulations for the league championship, which stipulate that the league competitions will be held in an all-against-all system with two rounds, home and away, and points are collected according to the table approved and approved by the General Federation and presented by the General Federation’s Competitions Committee for the current season.
The league match schedule has been prepared and designed in accordance with the conditions that suit the current situation of the country and takes into account the clubs’ circumstances and the pressures they face, and in a way that does not pose a threat to their teams, as all first-class teams will play against each other, home and away.
The first stage of the league consists of the teams of each governorate playing with each other in their governorate, back and forth, and ending all direct confrontation matches within the governorate, back and forth, so that the table is divided into a number of matches. Then the Sana’a Rally is held directly, in which the teams of Hadhramaut Governorate play. The first-leg round matches will be played with the teams of the capital, Sana’a, followed by the Aden Gathering, in which the Sana’a and Hadhramaut teams will play with the Aden Governorate teams only in the first-leg round. After that, the Seiyun Gathering matches will be held, in which the league will conclude with the return matches in which all the teams will face each other except The teams of the same governorate will have previously played the return matches in the first stage.
According to the tournament regulations, each team will play 14 matches throughout the period of the league, which concludes on February 15, 2025 AD, in light of the principle of equal opportunities for all teams participating in the league, which the General Federation was keen to adopt. The General Federation is making the necessary arrangements for the launch of age group competitions for those born in 2005 AD and 2017 AD. 2007 AD and the second division league competitions after the end of the general men’s league.
According to the regulations of the First Division League, each team has the right to register one Palestinian player as a local player in the men’s and junior categories, after the Board of Directors of the Yemeni General Basketball Federation approved, last September, the accreditation of the Palestinian player as a local player in all tournaments organized by the federation or Its branches in the governorates are for young people and men, given the conditions that the Palestinian people are suffering from and their exposure to an unjust war and genocide from the Zionist entity.
According to the tournament regulations, the next first division champion will represent Yemen in the upcoming external participation, while the seventh and eighth place holders will be relegated to the second division, and each team has the right to register one professional player throughout the tournament period according to the terms of the general competition regulations.
