The Jordanian national team suffered its first defeat in the Asian qualifiers for the 2024 World Cup, falling at home to South Korea (2-0), in the third round of the second group competitions, today, Thursday.
South Korea thus took revenge for its loss to Jordan in the semi-finals of the last edition of the Asian Cup with the same result.
Midfielder Lee Jae-sung surprised Al-Nashama with a goal late in the first half in the 38th minute with a powerful header that goalkeeper Yazid Abu Laila only watched.
The Jordanian national team tried to equalize. After Ali Alwan missed the opportunity to equalize in the 53rd minute, the Korean national team took control of the midfield area before Oh Hyun-gyu fired a powerful low shot in the 68th minute to add the second goal for the visitors.
South Korea raised its score to 7 points in first place in the second group, while Jordan's score froze at the fourth point.
Later this evening, for the benefit of the same group, Iraq faces its guest Palestine, and in a Gulf summit, Kuwait meets Oman.
