Al-Hilal snatched a difficult and expensive victory against its guest, Al-Ahly, with a score of 3-1, in the top matches of the 11th round of the Saudi Professional League (Roshan League), at King Fahd International Stadium in the capital, Riyadh.
Al Hilal took the lead early, after only 45 seconds, at the feet of Serbian player Sergei Savic, after a pass from his Senegalese teammate, Kalidou Koulibaly.
The host, Al-Zaeem, won a penalty kick, awarded by Alexander Mitrovic, but Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was waiting for it and saved his goal from a goal.
But Mitrovic did not raise the white flag, and after a few minutes he increased Al Hilal's lead with a second goal after a header that went into Mendy's net, ending the first half with a score of 2-0.
In the second half, Al-Ahly players intensified their attempts to reduce the difference, until French striker Alain Saint-Maximin scored a goal after a pass from his Algerian teammate Riyad Mahrez in the 58th minute.
6 minutes before the end of normal time in the match, Brazilian Rogers Ibañez, the Al-Ahly player, scored Al-Hilal’s third goal by mistake in his own net.
With this victory, Al-Hilal raised its score to 29 points at the top of the Roshen League table, with a difference of 5 points from Al-Taawoun, its closest rival, while Al-Ahly’s score froze at 22 points in fifth place.
