The Egyptian national football team qualified, on Tuesday, for the 2025 African Cup of Nations scheduled to be held in Morocco, by defeating its Mauritanian counterpart in Nouakchott, with a rare goal by Mohamed Adel.
The first half of the match, which was held at Sheikh Ould Bedia Stadium in Mauritania, in the fourth round of the third group of qualifiers for the 2025 African Cup of Nations, ended in a goalless draw.
Substitute Ibrahim Adel, the Pyramids player, scored the winning goal for the Egyptian national team with a long-range shot before the halfway mark. Goalkeeper Mamadou Diop, who was in front of his goal, failed to save it and it entered the net in the 86th minute.
Egypt raised its points tally to 12 points after achieving victory in the four matches it played in the qualifiers.
The Egyptian national team, led by Hossam Hassan, achieved its fourth consecutive victory in the continental qualifiers campaign, ensuring official qualification to the 2025 African Cup of Nations finals.
Led by its coach Amir Abdo, Mauritania's score stopped at 3 points, falling to last place with 3 points on goal difference from Cape Verde, which lost to Botswana with a score of 1-0 in the same round.
