The Supreme Elections Committee of the Football Association announced the continuation of its meetings to follow up on the implementation of its tasks in accordance with the electoral system and road map. This came after the closing of nominations on October 31, 2024, when the General Secretariat submitted lists of candidates to the committee.
Sources confirmed that the Aden delegate did not receive any nomination documents, while the Sanaa delegate received the files of seventeen candidates. All documents were documented and submitted in PDF format to the committee. Candidates were distributed to the positions as follows:
- Position of Federation President: two candidates.
- The position of First Vice President of the Federation: three candidates.
- The position of Second Vice President of the Federation: five candidates.
- Union membership: twenty-seven candidates.
The committee also reviewed four nomination applications that arrived after the specified deadline and decided not to accept them.
In the past days, the committee reviewed the candidates' documents and identified the files that needed to be completed. The results of this review were sent to the General Secretariat of the Federation to communicate with the candidates and complete the missing documents, which include proof of activity in the field of football, a certificate of good conduct, an academic qualification, adherence to age requirements and not combining two sports bodies.
The General Secretariat will begin communicating with the candidates starting on the morning of Sunday, November 3, 2024, and the deadline for submitting the required documents ends on November 6, 2024. The names of the accepted candidates will be announced on November 9, followed by the opening of appeals until November 11, with the appeals committee issuing Its final decision will be made on November 14, when the Supreme Elections Committee will publish the final names of the candidates eligible to run in the elections.
The Committee stresses the importance of adhering to timetables to ensure that the electoral process proceeds transparently and fairly.
