On Thursday, November 7, the official draw ceremony for the 2025 AFC U-20 Championship scheduled in China will be held.
The 42nd edition of this tournament will be held from February 12 to March 1, 2025, and includes the host Chinese team, which qualified automatically, in addition to 15 teams who qualified for the finals through the qualifiers that concluded last month.
Among the 16 teams participating in the tournament, 12 of them are seeking to win the cup again, including the Republic of Korea, which holds the record with 12 titles, and which hopes to win its thirteenth title and first since 2012, along with Uzbekistan, the holder of the edition’s title. Last year 2023 on its soil.
The top four finishers in the continental championship will reserve their place in the 2025 U-20 World Cup finals in Chile, where three teams - Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Yemen - are seeking to qualify for the world championship for the first time.
The 16 teams were distributed into four levels based on their classification in the 2023 edition, with China at the top of the classification as the host country, as follows:
- The first level: China, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Japan
- The second level: South Korea, Australia, Iran, Jordan
- The third level: Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kyrgyzstan
- Level Four: Qatar, Thailand, Yemen, North Korea
