The UAE national team jumped to third place in the first group of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, after regaining its balance with a major victory over Kyrgyzstan 3-0, in the fifth round.
Hareb Abdullah Suhail scored two goals for the Emirati club Al-Abyad in the 15th and 89th minutes, and Marcus Vinicius scored a goal in the 35th minute with a wonderful shot.
With this, the UAE national team achieved its second victory in the qualifiers, raising its score to 7 points in third place. Iran leads Group A with 13 points, followed by Uzbekistan with 10 points.
The UAE national team attacked at the beginning of the match, and had an opportunity in the sixth minute through Fabio Lima's shot from the edge of the penalty area, which went close over the crossbar.
The Emirati pressure resulted in opening the scoring in the 15th minute, after Kyrgyz defender Kairat Jirgalbek tried to return the ball to goalkeeper Arjan Tokutayev, but Harib Abdullah snatched it and shot into the empty net.
Marcus Meloni scored the second goal for the Emirates after he advanced from midfield and fired a powerful shot with his right from the left side that surprised goalkeeper Tokotayev (35).
In the second half, amidst the visitors’ attempts, Fabio Lima launched a quick attack and passed the ball to Harib Abdullah inside the penalty area to shoot an attempt that was narrowly blocked by the Kyrgyz goalkeeper (58).
The hosts took advantage of the rush of the Kyrgyz players, to score the third goal after Harib Abdullah received Fabio Lima’s pass and fired a powerful shot from a long distance that went into the top corner of the goal (89)
