Boxing legend Mike Tyson said that he does not believe that his unanimous loss to Jake Paul in the fight that was held in Texas, on Friday, will be his last in the boxing ring.
The British news agency (BA Media) reported that the fight, which lasted 8 rounds, which was held at AT&T Stadium in Texas, and which was broadcast on the Netflix platform, ended with scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-79. 73 for the benefit of the YouTuber who turned into a boxer
This was Tyson's first fight in the last 19 years, but he spoke to Netflix after the fight, as Tyson (58 years old) left the door open about fighting fights in the future.
The fans were very disappointed after Tyson showed his advanced age and was absolutely unable to launch any attack against his younger rival, as he threw only 18 punches compared to Paul’s 78.
Tyson, who was wearing a brace on his right knee, did not pose much of a challenge after being swayed by some left-handed punches from Paul in the third round, but he did enough defensively to avoid taking any serious damage.
He admitted after the match that he was fighting despite his leg injury.
When asked if this was the last time we would see him in the ring, Tyson said: “I don’t know. It depends on the situation.”
He added: “I don’t think so.”
When asked who his potential future opponent might be, Mike Tyson pointed to Paul's brother, Logan, in the stands.
The former world champion also said that he was very happy with his performance.
Tyson explained: “I knew Paul was a good boxer. I didn’t prove anything to anyone, just myself.”
He added: “I am not one of those people who goes out to make the world happy. I am happy with what I can do.”
At the same time, Paul used his comments after the match to praise his opponent.
He said: “Mike Tyson, what an honor. He is the greatest boxer.”
He added: “He is an icon. It was an honor for me to face him.”
The match, which was the focus of many people's attention, did not live up to the high expectations, as Tyson appeared clearly tired and struggled to keep up with Paul's pace during most of the fight
