Under Gross's watchful eye... Zamalek breaks Al-Masry's knot with Zizou's goal in the Confederation Cup

Zamalek got rid of the Al-Masry Club of Port Said after 4 consecutive defeats and beat them 1-0 under the watchful eyes of their new coach, Steve Gross, to take the lead in their group in the African Confederation Cup on Sunday.
Ahmed Mostafa “Zizou” scored the defending champion’s goal with a wonderful shot in the 64th minute, translating his team’s superiority in the all-Egyptian confrontation.
Zamalek raised its score to 7 points from 3 matches at the top of Group D, compared to 4 points for Al-Masry and the Black Bulls of Mozambique, and one point for Enyimba of Nigeria.
Zamalek's victory came after 4 consecutive defeats against the Port Said team in the Egyptian League, and in the presence of the Swiss Gross in the stands of Burj Al Arab Stadium on the outskirts of Alexandria.
Gross (70 years old) returned from retirement to lead the white team for a second period following the sudden departure of Portuguese Jose Gomez, who moved to Saudi Al-Fateh. Gross previously won the Confederation Cup with Zamalek in 2019.
Gomez's assistant, Ahmed Magdy, led Zamalek temporarily today before joining the Portuguese coach in the Roshen League.
