Former Brazilian striker Ronaldo (48 years old) said yesterday, Monday, that he will run for president of the Brazilian Football Confederation.
Ronaldo, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994 and 2002, intends to run in the Brazilian Confederation elections to succeed current president Ednaldo Rodriguez in 2026.
He told the “Globo Esporte” network: “Among the hundreds of things that motivate me to run for president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, I want to restore this status and respect that the Brazilian national team has always enjoyed and that no one else has today.”
The former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid striker said he also expects to sell his stake in Spanish club Real Valladolid.
He added: “We are negotiating a possible sale very soon, and we should close the deal. This will not be an obstacle to my candidacy.”
Ronaldo previously owned 90 percent of the shares of the Brazilian club Cruzeiro, which he sold earlier
