The Saudi national team accompanied Bahrain to the semi-final stage of the Arabian Gulf Cup “Gulf 26”.

The Saudi national team played, on Saturday evening, against Bahrain, in the third round of the second group of the Gulf Championship 26.

The Saudi team qualified as runner-up in Group Two after defeating Iraq, the defending champion, with a score of 3-1.

The Saudi national team took the lead in the 56th minute through a penalty kick successfully executed by Salem Al-Dosari.

In the 63rd minute, the Iraqi team equalized with a deceptive shot by Muhannad Ali Kazem.

But the Saudi team confirmed its qualification with a second goal from a missile shot successfully executed by Abdullah Hamdan in the 81st minute.

Al-Hamdan continued his brilliance and scored his second goal in the match and the third for “Al-Akhdar” in the 86th minute.

Thus, the Saudi team qualified as runner-up in Group Two with 6 points, behind Bahrain, which leads with 6 points, but the direct confrontations are in favor of Bahrain.

In turn, the Iraqi national team, the defending champion, exited the tournament from the group stage, after occupying last place with 3 points, a points difference from third-placed Yemen.

Despite its farewell to the tournament, the Yemeni national team achieved a historic victory over Bahrain with a score of 2-1 at the conclusion of the group stage.

The victory is the first achieved by Yemen in the history of its participation in the Gulf Cup.

 Nasser Muhammadu Al-Ghawashi, the Bahraini player, scored a goal against his team by mistake for Yemen in the 41st minute.

During the 62nd minute, Bahrain equalized through Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, before Haroun Yousef Al-Zubaidi scored Yemen’s historic winning goal in the 88th minute.

The Saudi national team will play in the semi-finals with Oman, the leader of the first group, while Bahrain will face the Kuwait national team, the host and the audience
