Areola tried to clear the ball from Salah, and it fell in front of substitute Diogo Jota, but the French goalkeeper skillfully blocked the Portuguese striker's shot, in the 71st minute.
Quddous's header bounced off the frame of Liverpool's goal in the 75th minute, after which Alexander-Arnold set up the ball for Salah, who shot from the heart of the penalty area over the crossbar.
