Bahrain and Oman set a date for the “Gulf 26” final in Kuwait

The Bahraini national team continued its brilliance in the Gulf Football Cup (Gulf 26) with a 1-0 victory over host Kuwait in a semi-final match on Tuesday.
Bahrain has thus qualified for the final of the tournament, which will be held next Saturday, to meet Oman, which won (2-1) over Saudi Arabia in the first match of the semi-final, which was held earlier today.
Mohammed Marhoon scored Bahrain's only goal and the match in the 75th minute of the match, after the ball reached him in front of the goal and went into the net, ensuring victory for Bahrain.
Bahrain defeated Saudi Arabia and Iraq, the defending champion, in the first two matches in the group stage before losing to Yemen (2-1), but it had guaranteed qualification for the semi-finals before this match.
The Oman national team qualified for the “Gulf 26” final after winning with 10 players (2-1) over its Saudi counterpart in the semi-final today.
The Saudi national team dominated most of the first half, while Oman tried to score even after Al-Mundhir Al-Alawi was sent off with a direct red card near the end of the first half, which ended in a goalless draw.
The Saudi team imposed a siege on the Omani team in the second half, hoping to take advantage of the numerical superiority and thought it had scored a goal scored by Abdullah Al-Hamdan, but the referee canceled it for offside after the video assistant referee intervened.
But Oman succeeded in scoring from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area, shot by Arshad Al Alawi in the 74th minute, and six minutes before the end of normal time, Ali Al Busaidi scored the second goal from close range.
The Saudi team narrowed the gap shortly after a shot from outside the penalty area by Mohammed Kanno, and the referee awarded the goal after reviewing the video assistant referee. The Omani team withstood the pressure to secure the qualification card for the final at the expense of the Saudi team, which finished the match with 10 players after Abdul Ilah was sent off. The Omani national team will face its Bahraini counterpart in the final of the tournament, and it will be a repeat meeting between them from the semi-final of the last edition in 2023, when Oman was able to win with an unanswered goal, before narrowly losing the final to Iraq.
