Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian national team player, announced on Friday that the current year is his last with his English club, Liverpool.
According to Sky Sports, Salah continued to raise doubts about his future at the club, saying that he expected this to be his last year at Anfield.
Salah told Sky Sports: “I really want to win the English Premier League with Liverpool. It is my last year at the club...so you want to do something special for the city.”
When asked if he really thought this was his last season with the club, he said: “So far, yes. It's the last six months... there has been no progress (in negotiations). We are far from any progress. So we just need To wait and see."
Salah is going through a good period at the moment, with coach Arne Sloat’s team six points ahead at the top of the English Premier League, with a game in hand before their Super Sunday match with Manchester United.
The 32-year-old now ranks first among Premier League players in terms of goals and assists this season, with 17 and 13 respectively, but his future remains uncertain as he enters the final six months of his contract.
Salah's contract with Liverpool expires next summer, and he can negotiate and sign now for free with any club.
On Sunday evening, Salah said after the end of the match against West Ham United: “No, we are far from that (renewing the contract with Liverpool) and I do not want to put anything in the media.”
