Ahly Jeddah surprised its guest, Al-Shabab, with an early goal in the first seconds of the match, when Riyad Moharrer ran on the right side and sent a perfect cross to his colleague Ivan Tony, who headed the ball into the net.
Then Al-Ahly players rushed towards the attack, in an attempt to take advantage of the confusion in which Al-Shabab players started the match, but the Al-Ahly players’ haste prevented them from reaching the goal.
In the eighth minute, the first real threat to Al-Shabab appeared, when Cuellar sent a ground pass towards his colleague Hamdallah, and goalkeeper Mendy succeeded in blocking it.
Al-Shabab's defense made a serious mistake in the 13th minute, and Brazilian Firmino succeeded in crossing the ball and passing it to Spaniard Vega, who found himself in front of the goal to score the second goal.
Al-Ahly Jeddah’s attacking attempts continued, and in the 30th minute, when Ivan Tony shot from inside the penalty area, Al-Mayouf succeeded in blocking it.
On the other hand, Al-Shabab tried to reduce the score before the end of the first half, but Al-Ahly’s defense prevented Hamdallah and Joanka from advancing towards the penalty area.
At the beginning of the second half, Al-Shabab coach Fatih Terim brought in Majid Kanaba and Mohamed Al-Shuwairikh, instead of Cuellar and Budnis, in an attempt to increase the attacking intensity.
Al-Ahly came back to surprise Al-Shabab with a goal at the beginning of the second half, in the 48th minute, after Saad Balabed benefited from an individual effort from Vega and scored the third goal for his team.
Hamdallah almost ruined the score for Al-Shabab in the 60th minute, when he faced goalkeeper Mendy, who succeeded in blocking the Moroccan striker's shot.
Mendy returned to his brilliance when he blocked a missile shot from outside the penalty area at the feet of Musab Al-Jawir.
Al-Shabab reduced the score in the 72nd minute, when Musab Al-Jawir shot a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, but Demiral failed to clear it and put it into his team's net.
Minutes later, the Al-Shabab players asked the match referee to award a penalty kick after Hamdallah fell, but the referee refused to do so due to an offside situation at the beginning of the attack.
Al-Ahly then returned to the attack, and Abdullah Al-Mayouf saved his team from conceding the fourth goal in the 85th minute, when he blocked a powerful shot from Riyad Mahrez.
In stoppage time, Mohamed II scored the second goal for Al-Shabab after poor coverage by Al-Ahly’s defence.
