Our national youth team tied with its Qatari counterpart, 1-1, in the friendly match that brought them together this evening at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Al Arabi Club, as part of the teams’ preparations for the Asian Youth Cup finals, which will be held in China.
▪️First half:
Missed opportunities and a strong start..!!
The first half witnessed a clear advantage for our team, as player Adel Abbas wasted the opportunity of a certain goal after being alone in the 2nd minute following a interrupted attack from the midfield.
Our team returned with an organized attack in the 5th minute, as Mohammed Al-Barwani fired a powerful shot that was brilliantly blocked by the Qatari goalkeeper.
On the other hand, the Qatari team responded with a dangerous threat in the 11th minute, but its attacker’s shot went over our team’s goal. The excitement continued when Adel Abbas fired a powerful shot that hit the inside crossbar in the 21st minute, amid doubts that it crossed the goal line, but the referee did not count the goal.
▪️Second half:
Injury and offensive brilliance..!!
--------------------------------
At the beginning of the second half, player Anwar Al-Tariqi suffered a foot joint injury after violent intervention by one of the Qatari national team players. He left the field and was replaced by Muhammad Wahib.
In the 50th minute, the Qatari team almost took the lead through a powerful shot over our goal.
Despite the fact that our team players had 75% possession of the ball, refereeing errors continued, as Adel Abbas was clearly obstructed inside the penalty area in the 80th minute, but the referee did not count it.
In the 85th minute, the Qatari team scored the lead goal through its skilled striker, who took advantage of a pass and put it into the net.
But the response did not take long and came quickly in the last minute of the match, when Mohammed Al-Aqili went off and passed a wonderful through ball to Adel Abbas, who in turn put it into the net with a beautiful left touch, so the match ended in a positive draw.
