The Aden derby match between Al-Tilal and Wehda Aden was held this Thursday evening at the historic Martyr Al-Hubaishi Stadium in the city of Crater, on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of National Independence Day, November 30, and within the competitions of the eighth round of the Aden Premier League in its second edition, which is held under the patronage of the Minister of State and Governor of the Capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed. Hamid Lamlas, the Youth and Sports Department of the Southern Transitional Council, and the support of Al-Busiri Microfinance Bank.
Amidst a festive atmosphere on the occasion of this dear national anniversary, the stands of Al-Hubaishi Stadium were filled to the brim with fans who came from various governorates of the south.
The match was truly the least we can describe as a football epic that took place inside a stadium filled with fans who turned it into a football wedding, interspersed with chants and singing to the beat of drums that did not stop throughout the two halves of the match.
Before the match, the former referee, Ali Hajib, one of the oldest and bravest former football referees, was honored. This referee was distinguished by his strict and courageous decisions at the time.
The kick-off was started by club legends Ahmed Al-Ahmadi from Wahdat Aden and Adnan Sabou from Al-Tilal,
Then referee Mahmoud Yassin’s whistle blew, confirming the start of the derby. Al-Bariqan began the confrontation amid great caution on the part of all the players. The monopoly of the ball appeared between the players of the two teams in the middle of the field, except on shy occasions that did not result in any danger, so the first half ended in a goalless draw.
In the second half, Al-Tilal began to be more dangerous in the first quarter of an hour, and almost snatched a goal in some attempts, but to no avail. Then the Aden unit returned to threaten Al-Tilal’s goal in some attempts that resulted in the lead goal, but from a surprise counterattack, the player Karim was kidnapped. He was alone with Al-Wahda's goalkeeper, who blocked the Al-Tilal striker, as a result of which referee Mahmoud Yassin awarded a penalty kick, which was successfully executed by player Hisham Balabel.
Then Al-Tilal doubled the score with a second goal, headed by Moataz, but the goal was disallowed due to offside, and the match field then exploded
The match continued, attack by attack between the two teams, but nothing new resulted, so the match ended with Al-Tilal defeating Wahdat Aden with a score of 1-0,
With this victory, Al-Tilal won the 56th Memorial Cup for National Independence Day, November 30, and also raised its score in the second edition of the Aden Premier League standings to 17 points, equal to its counterpart, Wehdat Aden, at the top of the standings.
