Al-Nasr overcame its grief after falling at the hands of its rival, Al-Hilal, and beat its guest, Riyadh, 4-1, at the “Awal Park” stadium this Friday evening, in a new capital city derby within the 16th round of the Saudi Roshen Professional League.
Today's victory comes after Al-Nasr lost to Al-Hilal last Friday with three unanswered goals at the top of the round.
Al-Nasr, which played the match wearing its third white shirt, raised its score to 37 points in second place, restoring the seven-point gap with leaders Al-Hilal, which in turn defeated Al-Taei 2-1 earlier today.
Al-Alamy achieved its 12th victory this season, compared to one draw and 3 defeats.
On the other hand, Riyadh’s score, which returned to the professional league this season, froze at 16 points in 14th place in the competition’s ranking table.
Riyadh's unbeaten streak stopped at 3 matches (one win and two draws), after suffering its eighth defeat since the beginning of the season.
The Victory Quartet scored Cristiano Ronaldo, Otavio, and Anderson Talisca (two goals) in the 31st, 45+3, 67, and 90+4 minutes, respectively.
While the visitors' only goal came from Andre Gray in the 68th minute.
Ronaldo's anger
Al-Nasr almost took the lead before the first minute was completed, as Anderson Talisca played a cross ball that Mane turned into the net, but the referee refused to award the goal due to the Senegalese striker being offside.
Al-Nasr continued its pressure and threatened Riyadh’s goal with more than one dangerous opportunity in the first quarter of an hour.
Ronaldo shot a ball from inside the penalty area, which hit the hand of the Riyadh defender, who was standing inside the goal, amid controversy over whether the ball crossed the goal line, and whether it collided with the player’s hand intentionally.
Ronaldo exploded in anger at the referee after he refused to count anything after returning to video technology.
Ronaldo's attempts continued, as the Portuguese shot a creeping ball from a direct free kick, but the goalkeeper blocked it in the 21st minute.
Mane started from the left side and played a perfect cross in the 30th minute, which Aymeric Laporte turned over the crossbar, continuing the series of wasted opportunities.
But the first goal did not take long, as Mane played a new cross, which Ronaldo this time successfully placed into the net.
The visitors' first chance came in stoppage time of the first half, when Saleh Abbas received a through ball, then went one-on-one and shot the moment Nawaf Al-Aqidi went into the net, but the referee canceled the goal due to offside.
Before the whistle at the end of the first half, Al-Nasr added the second goal from a header by short-haired Otavio, after a cross from Ronaldo.
Mane makes again
Despite the double, Al-Nasr entered the second half with a continuous attack in search of increasing their lead, and Mane intervened forcefully in a combined ball on Uruguayan Martin Campagna, which exposed the goalkeeper to injury in the 52nd minute.
The goalkeeper received treatment and tried to continue playing, but after a few minutes he complained again of pain, forcing coach Odair Hillman to bring in backup goalkeeper Rakan Al-Najjar.
Mane ran into the penalty area and played a pass for Talisca, who fired a shot from the ground into the net, expanding the difference to 3 goals.
But one minute later, Riyadh pulled one back through Andre Gray's goal after a cross from Juanmi.
Al-Nasr's attempts to score more did not stop, and Ronaldo shot a powerful low ball that passed next to the right post after receiving a cross from substitute Abdul Rahman Gharib 5 minutes before the end of regular time.
Before the referee whistled the end of the match, Talisca added a second personal goal after a special cross from Sultan Al-Ghanem
