The injury of Tadamon Hadramaut Club goalkeeper, Ahmed Mubarak, during his team’s match against Al-Ahly Sanaa Club, in the tenth round of the Yemeni League, sparked widespread controversy on social media.
According to what was reported by local media, goalkeeper Mubarak was injured during the match, and a group of soldiers, who were present on the field, treated him using a Dushka weapon.
A video clip circulated on social media showed the soldiers carrying goalkeeper Mubarak on their shoulders and transporting him outside the stadium, while one of them was carrying a Dushka weapon.
Commenting on this incident, athletes said that the miserable and deteriorating situation that the country is going through was reflected in the Yemeni league, and made it a “farce.”
The athletes demanded the need to tighten control over the Yemeni league, and prevent the recurrence of such actions that harm the reputation of Yemeni sports.
This incident comes in light of the continuing war in Yemen, which has led to the deterioration of the security and economic conditions in the country.
