Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker passed a perfect ball to left winger Jack Grealish, and the latter lifted the ball over the defenders towards Bernardo Silva, who shot with one touch, and the ball easily fell into the hands of goalkeeper Nishikawa in the 15th minute.
Manchester City came close to opening the score in the 28th minute, when a ball from Phil Foden was cut off, reaching Rodri, whose shot bounced off the defense into a corner.
Foden sent a cross from the left side towards the far post, but Portuguese Matheus Nunez was unable to complete it with his header into the goal in the 30th minute.
Silva skillfully set the ball up for his compatriot Nunez, who got rid of a defender before shooting a shot that was brilliantly blocked by goalkeeper Nishikawa in the 31st minute.
From a short corner kick, the ball reached Silva, who in turn set it up for Foden, and the English international shot a ball that Nishikawa excelled in blocking in the 37th minute.
