Massive celebrations took place in the capital, Aden, and a number of Yemeni governorates, after the Yemeni junior national team won the tenth West Asian Championship, at the expense of the Saudi national team, after heavy blows, in the final match that was held this evening in the Omani city of Dhofar.
The celebrations witnessed cheers and applause from the Yemeni fans, who gathered in the streets and raised encouraging slogans and pictures of players and coaches.
Celebrators considered the junior team's victory in the tournament a great achievement and a message of hope in light of the difficult conditions the country is going through.
The Yemeni government congratulated the players and coaches, and stressed that it will do everything in its power to support Yemeni football, and provide the appropriate atmosphere for the players to continue achieving more achievements.
The junior team’s victory in the tournament comes at a time when the country is suffering from a severe political, economic and humanitarian crisis.
The Yemenis believe that this achievement represents a moment of pride for the Yemeni people, and gives them a strong impetus to move forward in achieving more achievements at various levels.
