Liverpool widened its lead at the top of the English Premier League to five points after a crushing 4-0 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, extending the team's unbeaten run in the league to 14 matches.
The visiting team felt frustrated and cautious in the first half, as it had few opportunities to score, but it recovered in the second half, with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota each scoring two goals.
Nunez made it 1-0 in the 49th minute after a smooth pass that penetrated Bournemouth's defence, and the influential Jota put the match out of reach for the hosts with two decisive goals in the 70th and 79th minutes.
Nunez from Uruguay demonstrated the strength of Liverpool's dominant performance with his second personal goal in stoppage time.
Liverpool has 48 points from 21 matches, compared to 43 points each for defending champions Manchester City, Arsenal and Aston Villa. City has a game in hand for its team compared to coach Jurgen Klopp's team. Bournemouth ranks 12th with 25 points.
