FC Barcelona achieved a historic comeback against its guest Celta Vigo, escaping its first defeat in the Spanish League 2023-2024.

Barcelona defeated its guest Celta Vigo, 3-2, during the match that brought them together, today, Saturday, at the Luis Companis Stadium, in the sixth round of the Spanish League.

Celta Vigo opened the scoring in the 19th minute through its player Jurgen Strand Larsen, before the Dutchman Frenkie de Jong, the Barcelona midfielder, was injured in the 36th minute, and the Spaniard Gavi took his place.

Celta Vigo deepened Barcelona's wounds when they scored the second goal through their player Anastasios Dovikas, just 14 minutes before the end of the match.

While everyone was waiting for the match to end with Barcelona's first defeat this season, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski scored two consecutive goals in the 81st and 85th minutes of the match.

Celta Vigo had barely recovered from Barcelona's draw, before Portuguese Joao Cancelo scored the fatal winning goal for the Catalan team one minute before the end of regular time.

The victory raised Barcelona's tally to 16 points, placing it at the top of the Spanish League table, on goal difference, ahead of second-placed Girona.

Real Madrid has the opportunity to seize the lead alone, if it wins over its neighbor and traditional rival, Atletico Madrid, on Sunday evening, in the same round, as it will raise its score to 18 points.
