Liverpool survived the breakdown of its train in the English Premier League, with a fatal victory away from home, with a clean goal, over Nottingham Forest, today, Saturday, in the 27th round of competitions.
The only goal of the match was scored by Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, in the minute (90+9).
With this result, Liverpool remained in the lead with 63 points, while Nottingham was on the verge of the danger zone, occupying 17th place with 24 points.
Liverpool entered the match lacking some of its prominent stars, such as Egyptian Mohamed Salah, which prompted its coach, Jurgen Klopp, to include some young players in the starting lineup.
Liverpool showed a clear desire from the beginning, to impose its dominance by transferring short balls between its players in various lines, and trying to absorb the enthusiasm of the hosts.
However, Forest was the initiator of the threat a quarter of an hour after the start of the match, after Origi launched the ball with an individual effort, before launching a long-range missile shot that passed near the post.
The response came a few minutes later from the Reds, through a shot fired by Bobby Clarke from outside the penalty area, and the ball went over the crossbar.
Nottingham was close to surprising its guest with a goal from a lightning attack, as a result of which Elanga found himself face to face with goalkeeper Kelleher, who brilliantly defended his goal by blocking the Swedish striker’s shot with his foot.
Diaz almost caught the net after the ball was prepared in front of him near the hosts' goal, but defender Murillo and goalkeeper Matz Sils intervened at the right moment, and it turned into a corner.
The pace of play calmed down in the following minutes, without Liverpool succeeding in directing any shot between the posts and the crossbar until the end of the first half in a goalless draw.
Liverpool entered the second half with a flood of attacks, as it was close to taking the lead with Robertson's shot from inside the penalty area, but the defense played a starring role in changing the path of the ball outside the field.
Sales then made a wonderful save against another shot from inside the penalty area, which Mac Allister fired with all his might, preventing the visitors from scoring.
After Klopp pushed him in the second half, Nunez threatened Forest's goal with a low shot from the heart of the penalty area, before the ball landed in the net from the outside.
Ilanga missed a goal for the hosts, after he met a perfect cross from the left side, with a direct shot, so the ball passed next to the post.
Liverpool launched a quick counterattack, and Nunez ended it with a pass to Jacobo, who crossed the penalty area with the ball before shooting it into the outside net.
Diaz penetrated the ball from the left side before exchanging the ball with Mac Allister, who returned it to him on the edge of the penalty area, and the Colombian winger directed it with a missile shot that went wide of Nottingham's goal.
Hudson Odoi received a ball on the left side, penetrating into the visitors’ penalty area, but he directed a shot that was not strong enough, landing in the hands of the Reds goalkeeper.
Liverpool tried hard to reach Cells' net in the final minutes amid intense pressure in various ways, but the Forest goalkeeper shone with his brilliant save from Nunez's powerful header in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
The Reds did not raise the flag of surrender until the last breath, so Nunez was able to score a fatal goal with a perfect header, but the Forest goalkeeper was unable to stop
