Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League with the former defeating host Real Sociedad 2-1 and the latter defeating host Lazio 3-0 on Tuesday in the second leg of the eighth final.
Star Kylian Mbappe scored two goals for Saint-Germain in the 15th and 56th minutes, raising his tally to six goals, ranked second on the scorers list this season, and to 46 goals in the continental competition, while Michael Merino scored the only goal for Sociedad (89).
Mbappe scored the first goal in the clean double with which the Parisian club won the first leg against Real Sociedad three weeks ago.
In the second match, Harry Kane (in the 39th and 66th minutes) and Thomas Muller (45+2) scored the goals of Bayern, which holds the continental competition title six times, most recently in 2020.
With this victory, Bayern compensated for its first-leg loss to Lazio with an unanswered goal to reserve its place in the quarter-finals.
