The late Ali Mohsen Al-Marisi Ramadan Football Championship, in its twenty-eighth edition, will resume its tournament tomorrow evening, Wednesday, the 3rd of Ramadan, with the participation of (26) clubs playing in a single-round knockout system, and their matches will be hosted by the Martyr Al-Hubaishi Stadium in the capital, Aden, during the nights of the month. Blessed Ramadan.
The Merisi 28 Championship competitions will be held, organized by the Aden Football Association, under the patronage of the Minister of State, Governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, and the Aden Transitional Council, with the support of the Cooperative and Agricultural Credit Bank, CAC Bank, and under the supervision of the Youth and Sports Department of the Southern Transitional Council.
The tournament matches will open this evening, at nine-thirty in the evening, with a first match between the Al-Tilal Aden team and its rival, the Al-Nasr team from Al-Dhalea Governorate, at the Martyr Al-Hubaishi Stadium in Crater (host of the tournament matches).
Twenty-six clubs representing various southern governorates are participating in the 28th edition of the tournament: (Aden Unit, Al-Tilal, Shamsan, Al-Rawda, Al-Shuala, Al-Mina, Ahly Aden, Al-Jazira, Al-Jalaa, and Al-Nasr, in addition to the participation of the rest of the clubs from outside the governorate: Al-Salam, Thamer Yafa’, Al-Husseini, Al-Tali’ah (Lahj), Hassan, Irfan, and Shabab. Al-Mahfad, Al-Fajr Al-Jadeed (Abyan), Al-Mukalla, Shula Al-Makhshin (Hadhramaut), Al-Tadamon, Shabab Markha (Shabwa), Al-Nasr, Shabab Zabid (Al-Dhalea), Shabab Al-Ghaydah and Qishn (Al-Mahra).
Eight clubs won the Al-Murisi Cup championship through the 27 editions that were held from 1994 until 2023, and they were as follows:
1- The Hills 10 times (1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012)
2- Aden’s unity 7 times (1996, 2000, 2009, 2011, 2016, 2018, 2022).
3- Al-Shouala 4 times (2006, 2008, 2013, 2023).
4- Two Shams (2004, 2014).
5- Al-Minaa (1994), champion of the first edition.
6- Hassan Abin (1998).
7- Fahman Abyan (2017).
8- Hadhramaut Solidarity (2019).
The late Ali Mohsen Al-Marisi Ramadan Championship is considered one of the most important football tournaments held in the holy month of Ramadan. Al-Tilal is the team that has won the tournament the most with ten titles, and Al-Shoula team also holds the championship title by winning the last edition against Al-Wahda Aden in the final match.
