Norwegian Erling Haaland, Manchester City striker, responded to news of his move to Barcelona through one of his close associates.
The Catalan newspapers "Mundo Depotivo" and "Sport" confirmed today that Haaland has become Barcelona's main target in the summer of 2025, as part of a plan to benefit from the profits of the new "Camp Nou" stadium, and after the dismissal of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
According to the Spanish network “Defense Central”, Haaland said, through one of his close associates, in response to his association with moving to Barcelona and Real Madrid: “I will not leave City for Barcelona in its current state... As for Real Madrid? I don’t know.”

It is noteworthy that Haaland's contract with Manchester City extends until the summer of 2027, but includes a release clause of less than 200 million euros that allows him to move to clubs outside the Premier League.
Barcelona had previously made its first attempt to include Haaland on April 1, 2021, when his father and his late agent, Mino Raiola, traveled to Barcelona on a private plane to learn about the club’s sporting project.
Xavi Hernandez also traveled to Munich in March 2022, to meet Haaland in person and explain his project to him.
