FIFA announced, through an official statement on Wednesday, that the 2030 World Cup finals will be held in Morocco, Portugal and Spain.
In the same statement, FIFA announced 3 matches of the upcoming edition in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
FIFA's decision to choose the three Latin countries came in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the start of the first World Cup in history, which was held in Uruguay in 1930.
According to the Moroccan “Riyadiya” station, Moroccan King Mohammed VI announced that the FIFA Executive Committee unanimously approved the bid of Morocco, Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup.
For the second time, the World Cup finals will be held in an Arab country, after the Qatar 2022 edition, which achieved tremendous success and caught the attention, and ended with the Argentine national team being crowned champion.
On the other hand, the African continent is hosting the tournament for the second time as well, after the 2010 South African edition, which ended with the Spanish national team topping the title podium for the first time in its history, and the last so far.
The World Cup finals return to the South American continent, for the first time since the 2014 Brazil edition, which witnessed a resounding defeat for the hosts, before Germany won the title.
FIFA also invited the national associations members of the Asian Football Confederation and Oceania to prepare their bids to host the 2034 World Cup.
