The Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo led his Al-Nasr team to victory over Al-Khaleej, 3-1, in the match that brought the two teams together this Wednesday evening, at Al-Awal Park Stadium, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in the semi-finals of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup.
Al-Alamy set a date in the final with its rival, Al-Hilal, which qualified for the final after overcoming the Al-Ittihad hurdle with a score of 2-1.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals for Al-Nasr in the 17th and 57th minutes, and Sadio Mane in the 37th minute (penalty kick), while Al-Khaleej's goal was scored by Fawaz Al-Taris in the 82nd minute.
Al-Nasr started the match rushing towards the attack, and succeeded in threatening the Gulf goal early in the fourth minute, when Brosević passed a ball from the edge of the penalty area to Cristiano, who in turn shot it towards the goal and Sehić blocked it with difficulty.
Al-Khaleej responded to Al-Nasr’s advance, and Fabio Martinez sent a perfect cross to the head of his colleague Khaled Nari, who almost caught goalkeeper Ospina by surprise, but his header went close to the post.
Cristiano succeeded in opening the scoring for Al-Nasr in the 17th minute, benefiting from a joint error by the Gulf defense and its goalkeeper.
Minutes later, Senegalese Sadio Mane almost added the second goal for Al-Nassr, thanks to a missile shot from inside the penalty area, and goalkeeper Cihic excelled in blocking it.
Al-Nasr’s sweeping attack continued, and Ayman Yahya missed a certain goal when he was alone with the Gulf goalkeeper in the 29th minute, but he shot the ball recklessly.
In the 37th minute, the referee of the match awarded a penalty kick for Al-Nassr after a handball on the Gulf defender. Mane successfully translated it into the net, adding the second goal for his team.
In the second half, Gulf coach Pedro Emmanuel brought in Fawaz Al-Taris and Abdul-Ilah Hawsawi, replacing Fabio Martinez and Mansour Hamzy, trying to improve his team’s offensive performance.
Al-Khaleej did not succeed in curbing Al-Nasr’s momentum, and Cristiano was able to score the third goal for his team in the 57th minute, after following his teammate Ayman Yahya’s shot.
Inside Al-Nasr's defense, substitute Fawaz Al-Taris succeeded in scoring the goal to reduce the difference for Al-Khaleej in the 82nd minute.
The last minutes of the match witnessed massive wasted opportunities by both teams without changing the outcome of the match, and the referee blew his whistle announcing Al-Nasr’s victory and its qualification to the final.
