The Kuwaiti team was officially crowned the Premier League champion, this evening, after defeating Al-Arabi 0-3, at Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium in Al-Nasr Club, in the final round of the championship group.
Kuwait had secured the title since the last round, after defeating Al-Qadisiyah, 0/3, but the coronation came in tonight’s match against the most prominent rival in the current season, the Al-Arabi team, where the Al-Abyad captain raised the league shield in the presence of members of the Kuwaiti Federation, and members of Kuwait Club and many old players.
Kuwait's goals were scored on the night of the title celebration by Youssef Nasser, Ali Hussein, and Amr Abdel Fattah, noting that Kuwait's tally reached 69 points, compared to 59 for Al-Arabi, which settled in second place, and was guaranteed participation in the Asian Challenge Cup tournament in the next edition.
Kuwait imposed its control over the match against Al-Arabi, despite the latter’s attempts to achieve a moral victory at the end of the season to reconcile its fans who were absent from the match.
Youssef Nasser was able to score the lead goal, after 17 minutes, and after a successful dribble from Ali Hussein, ending the first half with a goal without a response.
Kuwait continued its superiority in the second half, increasing the lead, with two goals by Ali Hussein and Amr Abdel Fattah.
In another match in the same round, Al Salmiya achieved fourth place in the standings, after drawing with Al Fahaheel, with a goal for each team.
Al-Fahajil advanced with a goal in the first half, by the Brazilian Barros, and Al-Salmiya responded in the second half with a goal by Leo Al-Onaizan.
It is worth noting that the top four in the current edition of the Premier League, “Kuwait, Al-Arabi, Al-Qadisiyah, and Al-Salmiya,” will participate in the Kuwaiti Super Cup matches next season.
