The city of Kufa, in the center of the Iraqi Najaf Governorate, witnessed a tragic and shocking accident at the same time, after a predatory lion devoured his boulevard inside his house, before one of the neighbors intervened and ended the incident with fire.

The incident documented by a video that was widely circulated on social media, during the past hours, showed the moment of shooting at Assad inside the courtyard of the house, ending the incident with a bloody scene that shook local public opinion and raised widespread questions about the phenomenon of predators in residential houses.

According to the "Shafaq News" agency, the incident took place in a neighborhood of the Kufa district in Najaf Governorate, when Assad attacked his owner and his nanny inside and prevailing, in a sudden attack that the victim had no opportunity to survive. The sources indicate that the neighbor, who rushed to the house after hearing distress sounds, had no choice but to use his personal weapon to stop the lion, as he fired seven bullets that I wanted to kill immediately.

Immediately after the accident, a security force reached the site of the attack, where it transferred the victim's body to the Judicial Medicine Department to complete the legal procedures, while an official investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the accident and the motives for raising this dangerous animal inside a inhabited residential area.

The incident brought back to the forefront the controversy over raising predators in Iraq, in the absence of strict control, amid popular demands for laws that limit the phenomenon and prevent the acquisition of such organisms within residential neighborhoods in order to preserve lives and public safety.
