An analysis of data from more than a million students from different countries showed that energy drinks cause psychological disorders in adolescents, and smoking e-cigarettes causes dementia.
Dr. Ivan Romasov, an internal medicine specialist, points out that the results of numerous scientific studies around the world have confirmed that energy drinks cause children to suffer from hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder, depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.
In response to the question: What substances in e-cigarettes and energy drinks can cause mental problems?
The doctor indicates that the negative effect of electronic tobacco vaping systems is due to the following substances: nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerin, aldehydes, nickel and chromium.
According to him, nicotine greatly affects the brain, which may lead to mental disorders. Aldehydes, used in making various scents, and nickel and chromium, which are part of heaters, cause damage to the lungs, heart and blood vessels, which increases the emergence of mental problems.
As for energy drinks, the negative effect is due to caffeine, which is enhanced by taurine and gluconolactone. This occurs due to blocking of adenosine receptors and decreased efficiency of “brain inhibition” mechanisms.
In response to a question: Is there a standard for consuming energy drinks that does not lead to bad consequences? The doctor points out that there is a strict standard that determines the dosage of energy drinks - two cans a day and not at the same time.
The doctor indicates that addiction to energy drinks develops due to caffeine. Because the combination of caffeine, sugar, and taurine leads to an increase in the production of the hormone dopamine in the brain and changes in the production of endocannabinoids. Depleting these resources makes people depend on daily doses of energy drinks.
