Technology and telecommunications companies have launched new products and features ahead of the Mobile World Congress, scheduled to begin in Barcelona, tomorrow, Monday.
On Sunday, the Chinese technology company Honor launched globally its new Magic 6 Pro smartphone and presented a trial version enhanced with artificial intelligence that enables users to unlock and move their cars remotely by simply looking at their phone screens.
This tool is already available in China and the company is working to integrate it commercially abroad.
Huawei Technologies sold Honor in November 2020, and it is now affiliated with the Shenzhen Zhixin State Corporation.
Smartphone makers hope this kind of promotion will help support the stagnant smartphone market, although many experts say generative AI may raise legal or ethical concerns.
According to the International Data Corporation, in 2023, Apple acquired a market share in China of 17.3 percent, while Honor obtained 17.1 percent.
Honor is also launching today the new MagicBook Pro 16 laptop with an artificial intelligence feature that allows users to transfer programs such as messaging applications between devices, for example from an Android smartphone to a Windows PC with a single finger swipe on the screen. .
Honor CEO George Zhao said in a statement that the company has a firm belief in the importance of providing the ability to move between various operational systems, especially in the era of artificial intelligence.
New from Xiaomi
In a related context, the Chinese company Xiaomi Electronics launched in the global markets, on Sunday, its new smartphone, Xiaomi 14, enhanced with artificial intelligence and equipped with advanced imaging technologies, in addition to other wearable products.
The company said in a statement that its new Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone has four cameras, and represents an expansion of the Chinese giant’s partnership with the German camera manufacturer Leica.
The simplest model, the Xiaomi 14, has three cameras.
Modern phones integrate artificial intelligence models into various applications, such as a tool that allows speech to be converted into written speech in real time during conferences, or another application that allows users to describe an image to artificial intelligence to determine its location in the phone’s photo gallery.
Last year, Xiaomi ranked third in the world in terms of smartphone market share, accounting for 12.5 percent of shipments globally.
Apple came in first place with a market share of 20.1 percent, followed by Samsung with a market share of 19.4 percent, according to IDC figures.
Today, Sunday, the company also unveiled new wearable products, including smart watches, which Xiaomi says are suitable for sports activities and monitoring health status.
