Yair Lapid, the leader of the Israeli opposition, said on Friday that Benjamin Netanyahu's government is "disastrous" and "our enemies are laughing at us."
Lapid published a new tweet on his official account on “X” this evening, Friday, commenting on the ongoing and public disagreements between the Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, and the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir.
Lapid explained, “There is no greater harm to our national security and our deterrent power than a disaster government, and Netanyahu sees this and does nothing because he no longer has any spirit.”
The Israeli opposition leader was not satisfied with that, but added, “Our enemies see this and laugh,” he said.
Lapid's statements came in response to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's accusation that National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir is irresponsible and poses a threat to Israeli national security.
According to the Israeli Channel 12, Galant described Ben Gvir as irresponsible, pointing out that his angry exit from the cabinet session of the Israeli Cabinet for Security and Political Affairs puts his country in danger.
Gallant said that Ben Gvir's actions create internal division, noting that both the Shin Bet chief and his men are carrying out their duties, warning of the dire consequences of his actions.
This comes against the backdrop of a warning from Shin Bet head Ronen Bar, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Gallant and other ministers, that “Jewish terrorism committed by violent settlers and the actions of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir on the Temple Mount (Al-Aqsa Mosque) are causing untold harm” to Israel. In a message published by the Israeli Channel 12, Ben Gvir called for Bar’s dismissal during the government meeting, and came out angry when Netanyahu and other ministers defended him.
Ben Gvir did not stand idly by, but today, Friday, he directed a sharp criticism at the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, following his statements that he is irresponsible and poses a danger to Israel.
Ben Gvir said to Gallant through his official account on the “X” platform: “You promised to return Lebanon to the Stone Age, while you are returning northern Israel to the Stone Age,” adding: “Instead of attacking me on Twitter (the “X” platform) He attacked Hezbollah in Lebanon.
