The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, directed harsh criticism at Hezbollah, accusing it of plunging Lebanon into a useless war that serves foreign interests.
He stressed, during a speech after a festive mass organized on the occasion of “the anniversary of the martyrs of the Lebanese resistance,” that the continuation of the tense situation in the country without a solution will make Lebanon vulnerable to chaos and deterioration.
Geagea pointed out that the slogans promoted by the “axis of resistance” only resulted in the exacerbation of the Lebanese crisis, stressing that negotiating with an armed party is a grave mistake, and that the international community will not accept negotiation with a party that possesses weapons.
He also stressed that stability in Lebanon is an internal and external demand that his party seeks to achieve.
Geagea concluded his statements by calling for the Lebanese issues to be addressed transparently after the end of any possible war, stressing the importance of building the divided state in a way that makes it free of sectarianism and denominationalism. He also renewed his support for the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state
