Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, strongly condemned the recent Israeli statements regarding the Philadelphia axis on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. These countries expressed their full solidarity with Egypt in the face of these allegations, warning of the dangerous repercussions of these statements on international mediation efforts, which aim to reach a permanent ceasefire in the region.
In a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom denounced Israeli attempts to justify ongoing violations of international laws, stressing the importance of ending the suffering of the Palestinian people and empowering them with their right to self-determination and establishing their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For its part, Qatar condemned the statements of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who announced his rejection of the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Philadelphia axis. The Qatari Foreign Ministry indicated that Netanyahu seeks, through his statements, to disperse Israeli public opinion and obstruct joint mediation efforts between Egypt, Qatar and America, warning that falsifying facts will lead to the destruction of peace efforts and expand the circle of violence in the region.
