Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey today, Wednesday, in the first visit at the presidential level in 12 years.
Sisi’s visit to Turkey comes after Erdogan’s visit to Cairo in February, which is his first visit to Egypt since 2012.
The Turkish Presidency’s Liaison Office said in a statement yesterday, Tuesday, “Turkish-Egyptian relations will be reviewed in all their aspects and possible joint steps will be discussed in the coming period to further develop cooperation.”
The statement added, "In addition to bilateral relations, views will be exchanged on current regional and global issues, especially the Israeli attacks on Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories."
Sisi is scheduled to arrive in Ankara at two in the afternoon (1100 GMT), and will hold a joint press conference at five in the evening (1400 GMT).
